1999 Ford Escort ZX2: Serpentine belt replace?

HOW TO REPLACE SERPENTINE BELT.



Ford Escort Drive belt removal details and procedure.

The details will work for
1.9L and 2.0L SOHC Engines

Follow the outlined details
See Figures 10 through 16
To replace drive belt :--
Insert a 3/8 in. drive ratchet or a breaker bar in the hole on the automatic tensioner, then pull the tool toward the front of the vehicle.
While releasing the belt tension, remove the drive belt from the tensioner pulley and slip it off the remaining accessory pulleys.

NOW THE PROCEDURE

To install:


Position the drive belt over the accessory pulleys.
Insert the 3/8 in. drive ratchet or breaker bar into the hole of the automatic tensioner, then pull the tool toward the front of the vehicle.
While holding the tool in this position, slip the drive belt behind the tensioner pulley and release the tool.
Remove the tool from the automatic tensioner.
Check that all V-grooves make proper contact with the pulley.

2.0L DOHC Engines



See Figure 13 shown above
Raise the car and safely support it with jackstands.
Use a 13mm wrench to rotate the tensioner clockwise.
Remove the drive belt from the pulleys.

To install:
Position the belt on the pulleys.
Use a 13mm wrench to rotate the tensioner clockwise.
Route the belt as shown in the illustration and release the tensioner.
Lower the car.
Run the engine for a few minutes to seat the belt in the pulley grooves.
